Anyone may obtain a copy of the front side of a marriage license.
Only the Bride and Groom may obtain a copy of the back side of the marriage license.
A copy of both sides of the license may be obtained if it is over 50 years old and being requested for genealogical purposes.
Any exceptions to the above must be approved by the County Clerk.
Photo identification is required.
$10.00 for the first copy, $2.00 for each additional copy when purchased at the same time. If requesting by mail, payment MUST BE in the form of a money order, cashier's check, or certified check.
Make checks or money orders payable to: CHAMPAIGN COUNTY CLERK. All checks must be numbered 500 or greater. Completed orders can be shipped overnight via Federal Express for an additional cost.
1833 to present. The Champaign County Clerk's office has marriage licenses for only those who were married in Champaign County.
You may obtain a certified copy, with a raised seal, of a marriage license either in person or by mail. If you are requesting it by mail, you must include the names of the bride and groom as well as the date of the marriage and a return address along with a copy of your photo ID.

Apply at least one calendar day prior to the wedding; the license is valid for 60 days after the effective date. Both parties must appear at the County Clerk's Office to obtain the Marriage License.

You must be at least 18 years of age. You can be married at ages 16 or 17, but BOTH NATURAL PARENTS must sign a parental consent form in the County Clerk's Office at the time you apply for the Marriage License.
Photo ID is required for both parties. It may also be necessary to show proof of age when applying for a Marriage License.
