About Gordy Hulten

Photo of Champaign County Clerk Gordy HultenGordy Hulten is the Champaign County Clerk, having been appointed by the County Board to the office effective January 5, 2011.  Previously, Gordy served as the Champaign City Council member for District 5, which includes most of south and southwest Champaign.

From 2003-2011, Gordy worked for the Devonshire Group (now MSA Professional Services), responsible for marketing for HDC Engineering, ASD Architects, Coldwell Banker Commercial Devonshire Realty, and Associated Capital Title. His responsibilities included sales promotion, market research, targeted marketing, promotional communications and public relations activities. He was named one of Central Illinois Business magazine’s Forty Under 40 for 2010, honoring outstanding young business leaders from East Central Illinois.

Gordy has worked in government and politics for more than fifteen years. From 1995 through 2001, while serving in the United States Army Reserve, he worked as a Policy Analyst and Campaign Manager for the Illinois House Republicans in districts throughout Illinois. In 2002, he managed both successful Primary and General State Senate campaigns for Senator Rick Winkel, and has managed or consulted on hundreds of other federal, state, local and judicial campaigns.

Gordy also founded and administered IlliniPundit.com from 2005 until joining the Champaign City Council in 2010. IlliniPundit.com published daily for more than five years and was one of the most popular political blogs in Illinois, read by several thousand readers daily.

Active in the community, Gordy volunteers with the United Way of Champaign County, Champaign Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. Gordy is a 2002 graduate of the University of Illinois, and lives in Champaign with his wife Pam, the Director of Resource Development at United Way of Champaign County, and their children Will and Cate.
